Scott joined the Bader Region Staff as Operations Manager in August 2017. He has been actively involved as a member in the Badger Region and volleyball community for many years, starting as player of the UW-Whitewater Men’s club team from 1999-2004. Scott graduated from UW-W with a degree in K-12 Physical Education and currently resides in Brookfield, Wis., with his wife, Kim.

He has been an assistant coach in the Badger Region High Performance All-Star program for three years. This summer he will assist the Girls U17 team.

Spiess has 19 years of high school coaching experience, all at Brookfield Central, with 13 of those years spent as Head Coach for the Girls Varsity Volleyball team. He served as a the Chair for Girls Division 1, on the Executive Council of the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association. As a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association he was the Region 6 representative for the AVCA/USA Today High School poll and Under Armour All-America Awards Committee.

In addition to his time spent on high school sidelines, Spiess is involved with the Milwaukee Sting Volleyball Club where he has coached girls at all levels 15s-18s. Twice his teams have medaled at the AAU National Championships and a total of seven athletes have earned All-American recognition under his tutelage. Scott also sits on the club’s Board of Directors.

During the summer months, Spiess has spent time on the camp circuit with McCutcheon Volleyball Camps at the University of Minnesota and Ryan Theis Volleyball Camps at Marquette University, among others. He also offered an annual skills camp for girls entering 5th-9th grade in Brookfield.

Scott remains involved with the Wisconsin Volleyball Conference (men’s and women’s Collegiate Club teams) serving on its Advisory Committee. He was a presenter at the 2019 WVC Leadership Summit, assists with the Hall of Fame selection process, and execution of the annual State Championships. As a player, Scott was awarded the Libero of the Year Award and Leif Storvik Sportsmanship Award by the conference.

Prior to joining the Badger Region Staff, Scott was the physical education teacher and athletic director for St. Matthias Parish School in Milwaukee for 11 years.
