Reminder: Badger Region-sanctioned events require masks for all participants and spectators

The Badger Region Board of Directors approved Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, the following mask policy for all events:

For the health and safety of all participants, as well as continued activity, the Badger Region Volleyball Association requires cloth masks covering the nose and the mouth for all individuals (players, coaches, referees, administrators and spectators) for all events, including but not limited to: practices, scrimmages, camps, clinics and events, to help prevent the spread of Covid-19. There will be no medical exemptions granted, and plastic face shields alone are not allowed (one may be worn in addition to a cloth mask). Anyone not wearing a face covering will not be allowed into the facility, and anyone who removes their face covering will be required to leave immediately upon refusal to correct the covering position. Players can remove their mask for hydration.

The mask policy was put into place for the following reasons:
  • CDC and medical guidelines demonstrate that masking is important to keep individuals safe from the spread of Covid-19. There are increasing calls for double-masking.
  • Allowing players the opportunity to play is important for the mental and physical health of the athlete, and full masking provides a better opportunity for play to continue.
  • Full masking, mandated region-wide, eliminates confusion around different rules in different locations throughout the state.
  • Full masking provides a safer environment for spectators to be involved, which is important for many tournament directors to fiscally run an event, and for adults to support their youth.
  • Full masking protects officials and allows them to safely continue to work. Many have opted out for this year as it is.
  • Full masking protects region staff as well as tournament staff around the state, and provides a better chance for these events to continue.
