Jake Nowak was elected to the position of Junior Boys Chair by the Junior Club Directors on Sunday, Aug. 9.

Nowak is the co-director of the Milwaukee Volleyball Club (formerly North Shore Milwaukee Volleyball Club).

“My passion for coaching the sport of volleyball came from my experience here at (NS)MVC. I grew to appreciate the finer details of the game, but more importantly I learned to enjoy the whole experience of competing at a high level with teammates you have developed meaningful relationships with over time.  The memories made and lessons learned through the shared journey of a club season are invaluable.  Being able to reproduce that kind of experience for the next generation of players both as a director and as a coach is something I’m extremely grateful for.”

Nowak attended Quincy University after graduating Pius XI High School to play for the NCAA men’s volleyball team. He was named academic all-conference in 2002 and 2003 before transferring to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to finish his bachelor’s degree in history. In the years that followed, Nowak also received his masters in education and sports management at Cardinal Stritch University.

The 2001 Wisconsin State Player of the Year has 11 years of coaching experience under his belt, including many top finishes with (NS)MVC teams both as a player and as a coach.

Nowak also has been a USAV High Performance Evaluator from 2010 to present.
