Badger Region teams finish at the top at 2019 High Performance Championships

The four Badger Region teams who  represented Wisconsin at the 2019 High Performance Championships brought home two medals and proved they were among the best at the event July 18-22 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Leading the way for the Badger Region was the Boys National Select Team comprised of athletes born in 2003 and 2004 and coached by Brian Rushmer (Lakeland University/MVC/Germantown High School) and Brian Sharkey (Badger Region/Southport/Indian Trail High School). The team made it all the way to the title game, but fell to a dynamic USA Future Select A1 Red team.

This was the first year the Badger Region brought the Boys National Select Team to the HP Championships.

Taking bronze in their own division was the Badger Region Girls National Select Team coached by Stacy Boudreau (UW-Whitewater) and Sarah Frings (Marian University).

The Boys National Youth Team coached by LJ Marx (Formerly Carthage College now Milwaukee Sting) and Tyler Frings (Marian University) finished just out of the medals in fourth place after a tough loss to rival Great Lakes Region.

Meanwhile, the Girls International Youth Team coached by BJ Bryant (St. Norbert College) and Jeff Van Lannen (FC Elite) finished eighth with a record of 4-4 in a very tough field.
