I enjoy making a difference in the lives of others.
I am fortunate to have a fabulous business partner, Janice Siebert. Janice asked me to get into coaching in 1995 and has led me to something that I love and have a passion for. (Her club, the Midwest Penguins Volleyball Club is entering its 20th year).
I have seen a great deal of change over the two decades.
Volleyball in Wisconsin has elevated significantly. More athletes are playing, and more are playing at a younger level.
I am glad that we are training and teaching a life long sport, one that they will play for years to come.
I would say that I am cautious and monitoring burnout. The sport should be fun, competitive and a game we enjoy playing forever.
I support multiple sport athletes, there are several articles to point to the success of this attribute in our youth.
The region office has grown from one person to four to five people over the years. The additional staff has helped develop and support areas of the state, support additional programing, cross-train individuals, and more. I see that our region long term planning has been successful and look forward to future growth.
Anne Slattery has been on the board since 1998. She has a background in accounting. She has received the USA Volleyball Outstanding Program Director Award in 2012, the Badger Region Merit Service award and the Leif Storvik Award to recognize and honor individuals, teams or organizations that have made a positive impact to the sport of volleyball.
