Badger Region Men’s PVL General Manager/Team Rep/Asst. Coach: Brian Sharkey
Badger Region Men’s PVL Team Head Coach: TBA
The 2017 PVL Championships has been canceled, and with it, the Region will not be able to fully sponsor any team at any level for the event in Minneapolis over Memorial Day Weekend. The Region is waiting for the PVL and USA Volleyball to determine what sort of structure will exist for the league and its championships before determining if a PVL team will be offered in the Badger Region.
The Badger Region had a men’s Premier Volleyball League team for the first time in the 2016 season. The team had a core group of athletes training and playing in adult tournaments in the upper midwest with their ultimate goal set on winning a PVL Championships that took place May 28-May 31 in Orlando, Fla.
The team finished in fourth place with a final record of 6-3 at the tournament. A great showing for the team’s first year.

The men’s team is not the first time the Badger Region has entered the PVL Championships.
The Badger Blizzards began as a professional women’s volleyball team sanctioned by Badger Region Volleyball Association in 2013. The team provided elite players in Badger Region an avenue to continue their volleyball careers after college, while also providing our junior membership with positive, accessible role models in the volleyball world. The team played in a pair of Premier Volleyball League Championships (2013, 2014).

What is the PVL? The PVL is a region-based professional league sanctioned by USA Volleyball. Each of the 40 Regions of USA Volleyball are given the opportunity to field one men’s and one women’s team that will compete at the highest level of the PVL Championships. In 2016, the PVL also plans to add a AAA division for second teams, or teams that are still in the developmental stages. For more about this league, click here.
