Badger Region set to host 2021 Championships again this weekend in downtown Milwaukee

We hope everyone is looking forward to the first weekend of the Badger Region Championships coming up March 13-14 at the Wisconsin Center in downtown Milwaukee.

While the schedule helps dictate the flow of the weekend, it is vital that you also check out the 2021 Badger Region Championships Welcome Program that can be viewed here.

It in, you will find:

  • COVID-19 policies put in place by Badger Region and the Wisconsin Center District
  • Rules for team check-in, rosters (yes, a Sports Engine roster is required), and spectator numbers
  • Links to the BallerTV live streaming options
  • Information about parking near the convention
  • A welcome letter from Badger Region President Jim Momsen
  • Emergency contact numbers for Badger Region staff
  • An example of the simplified scoresheet that will be used by parent/spectators who will need to help do the scorebook, scoreboard and line judge
  • Details about the limited number of concessions on site — as there are no food options available in the Wisconsin Center other than a few items in the kiosks.
  • A few rules of the game reminders
  • A court map and map of the Wisconsin Center with exits listed
  • A brief tutorial on using BallerTV iPads for parents/athletes who have never had to update the scoreboard using the streaming setups at each court

There are also a few things that we want to point out here (which are also mentioned in the program but we feel are important enough to mention thoroughly in both places):

  1. A reminder that the official roster turned in must have the exact number of athletes and coaches on it that will be on site. The total number of spectator wristband requested cannot exceed the number of athletes on the roster.
  1. Team check-in is Friday from noon to 8 p.m. in the Wisconsin Center. There is NO Saturday check-in this year. Please check the schedule and make arrangements accordingly. As long as the invoice for spectator wristbands have been paid, Badger Region staff will give a club’s entire allotment of wristbands to a designated coach or director if they request them.
  1. Athletes and coaches should not enter the facility more than 30 minutes before the start of their first match. Spectators should not arrive more than 15 minutes ahead of the start of their first match. This alleviates the number of people in the convention center at the busy wave changes.
  1. Nobody will be allowed up the second escalator without a proper wristband. We need all teams to meet outside of the convention center to distribute their athlete/coach wristbands and the spectator wristbands. Spectators will receive one wristband for Saturday and a different one for Sunday. The same person does not need to use both wristbands.
  1. The first floor of the convention center is now a COVID vaccination site. Please stay off the first floor except when entering at the main door (400 W. Wisconsin Ave.). The north entrance to the building is reserved for those attending the vaccine clinic. The parking lot located just north of the convention center off of Wells Street is also not open as it is reserve for the clinic.
  1. And finally, wear your masks. No exceptions. No messing around. Police yourselves, so we don’t have to. We hope to not have to remove anyone from the facility or cause a team to forfeit points or a set for not following proper mask usage.

We are super excited to bring Badger Region volleyball back to downtown Milwaukee. A year ago at this time, we were forced to cancel the event — disappointing many players, coaches and spectators. So, let’s appreciate this great opportunity the city and VISIT Milwaukee have granted us.
