March 6-7, 2021, chosen as date for annual Dale Rohde Memorial Boys Volleyball Tournament

Sunday, December 20th, 2020

A date has been chosen for the Badger Region’s Dale Rohde Memorial Boys Volleyball Tournament. The event will take place March 6 or March 7. Cost is higher than in years past ($200) due to increased costs the Region must incur due to our current environment. Registration is now open on AES.

The Dale Rohde Memorial Boys Volleyball Tournament is a tribute to longtime Badger Region member Dale Rohde who was a huge supporter of boys volleyball in the Badger Region. Dale was an active member of our community as a player, parent and official. He lost his fight with cancer on Jan. 15, 2014.

The Badger Region realizes that there is one other Wisconsin-based boys event that we are aware of on the calendar for that date, but it is the weekend that worked on the schedule for us and in the responses that came in from club directors, it also appeared that enough were in support of these dates to make a go of it.

The Dale Rohde will be a full-day (single day) event. Our goal with the Dale is to have an equal number of teams on Saturday as Sunday. So it might be something like B12/B13 alongside B17/18 on one day. Then B14 alongside B15/16 on another. That way we use about the same number of courts. This decision will be made in a few weeks once we see what registration numbers look like.

We will also let all the teams currently registered for the Badger Region’s March 7 BBS (scheduled to be a B12s day) know in the coming days what the plan is with their scheduled event.

We want to make sure teams have as many boys options to play this season. There are so few options as it is this year. Teams from outside the Region are also encouraged to register for the event. We will be following all guidelines set by the state of Wisconsin, city of Milwaukee and rules set by the Wisconsin Center District. That means there will be limits on spectators and the number of courts we can put in the Wisconsin Center. We promise to stay in contact if things need to be adjusted due to any changes in policies.
