Badger Region athletes dominate WIAA Boys & Girls Volleyball State Tournament
Wednesday, October 9th, 2019
If you need any convincing that club volleyball is beneficial to your high school volleyball team’s success, just take a look at the 2019 WIAA Boys & Girls State Volleyball Tournament.
Of the 148 athletes listed on the roster of the 10 teams playing in a state championship on Nov. 9, a whopping 132 (90 percent) played club volleyball in the Badger Region during the 2018-19 season. An additional three athletes played for clubs outside the Badger Region during the season. Many of the athletes who were not listed on a roster last season had played in previous season. Of the 148 athletes, only six athletes (4 percent) total never played club volleyball during their tenure as a junior athlete.
Only three boys in the finals today between Germantown and Kimberly did not appear on a roster during the 2018-19 club season. Both Arrowhead and Oconomowoc (Girls Div. 1), Luxemburg-Casco (Girls Div. 2), Aquinas (Girls Div. 3) and Germantown (Boys) had rosters that were 100 percent on club teams last year.
